They had better deals than any Thanksgiving sale I've ever been to. I picked up the WD 120 JB for $50 after rebate (I thought the 80 GB was $40), an optical mouse for $2 and some USB cables for $0.99 each. The best part was that they didn't sell out quickly so you didn't have to show up at 4 AM (like some people probably did).

Ok I retract my previous post... It's just that every time I ever needed something specific it wasn't on sale... but if you wait and look for good deals, then I guess as you guys attest to it's a great place. Thanks guys

The FRYS here in Houston is very nice. And there are good deals, you just have to pay attention and shop the ads...
Where else you gonna get an ECS K7S5A-PRO/2000+ combo for 89 bucks?

2 weeks ago I snagged a brand new (not refurbed) Canon i320 printer for 29 bucks!

I just put together this budget system mostly from Frys this weekend:

    XP2400+ (2.0ghz) OEM (Fry's combo $99)
    ECS K7S5A Pro
    512mb DDR (Office Max $50)
    80gb WD SE retail ($50)
    Geforce 4 mx440 64mb ddr w/ tv out (Fry's $50)
    52x24x52 CDRW (Office Max $10)
    floppy (Fry's $12)
    case w/ 300w psu & front USB (Fry's $30)

total cost after tax & rebates $369.03

I had an extra heatsink/fan & case fan I threw in, plus all the software. Not a bad budget box for a family who doesn't require a lot of goodies.

We have a fry's in north houston and it is great. I put my new system together form there. I printed out prices from newegg and they were right on or less plus i didn't have to pay shipping. The only thing was little more was the mobo was 10 more than at newegg. For getting it that day compared to 3-7 days it is well worth. And like everyone else said when they have deals they have deals!!!!!

Out here in New Jersey I only have two choices.

A CompUSA 20 minutes away which stocks a few good items, but other than mice and software the selection is very small. The store is populated by guys in red shirts that are never around when you need something, but otherwise are always annoying you. On the plus side, the prices aren't bad and you can check inventory online.

A 200 sq.ft. place in a strip mall owned by a Chinese man whose accent I can barely understand. They have all the smaller and exotic items, but you have to know the real price before you buy anything. The guy prices $100 above retail on every piece of hardware and you have to talk him down. You should only go to these stores if you have a lot of experience.

Yeah, we need a few Fry's over here.

    WERD!!

The one in San Diego SUCKS A$$!! hardcore.

I swear to GOD, every cashier they have is either Samolian or Asian. Their return area is RIGHT infront of the front door, it looks ohh so every freakin tacky to have a line go OUTSIDE the building of people returning stuff. And they dont pickup ANYTHING!!!
You'll be walkin down an isle and like a quarter of the stuff populating the shelves and baskets and floors isn't even supposed to be stocked there (because A: they left it there or B: a customer left it there). The only reason I used go there was to get technical books, Music CDs, DVDs and electrical components (wire, connectors, etc).

That store makes my Top 10 Crappiest Retail locations.
