hard drive wont work on my dad's computer
A few days ago my dad and i decided to format his harddrive because of too many issues we were having with windows ME. So our plan was to copy my hd partition to his formatted hard drive.
Now that we've copied my partition to his hard drive, his hard drive only works in my computer. It boots up properly when it is connected to my motherboard, but when it is connected to his motherboard it freezes before it can load anything, and if it does get past this stage it says there are corrupted files on the hard drive why doesnt the drive show any errors when plugged into my motherboard?
p.s. we both have the same exact motherboards (abit sr-7 8x) and the same micron ram. I use 2 quantum drives while he uses a Western digital cavier 40gb drive. we have the same sound cards. His video card is the ATI radeon 9000 pro and im using a GeForce 4 Ti4200.
any help appreciated.
i am assuming something is wrong with his motherboard. the processor was working properly.

You need to format and install the OS using your Dad's PC.
Did you just copy your HD or use a disc ghost/clone prog?

Sleeps with the Fishes
thats odd...i know that sometimes booting drives wont switch over if there is hardware conflict, but when i ghost copied my HD onto my dad's(who has a COMPLETELY different setup) it worked fine...have you tried putting your HD in his computer? or only booting with only ram video card mobo and cpu?

this isn't really a solution, but make security copies of everything, format the drive in your computer, move it back to your dads pc and reinstall the os. that should do the job.

According to the casper xp site, it should have been a breeze and there should be no problems, but I only use Ghost, so I wouldn't know if it worked properly.
Norton is the best and I've never had problems unless the mobo was incompatible....in your case, it shouldn't be since you got the same mobo.
If all else fails, re-partition, reformat, reinstall....have fun!
