    Need some help with database information... can someone lend me some help?

    in a class i am taking our prof. wants us to get some information on some of the big name databases outthere. if anyone has alot of experience in this field or even some knowledge of these databases can you answer a few questions. I need info for these databases but any info will help:
    MySql
    Oracle
    DB2
    Access
    Paradox
    Filemaker
    SQL Server.
    I just need to answer:who created it(some background info), what it does, Where you would use it, and why you would use it...

    Add one more to the list... you forgot Sybase.

    A few of the companies/databases on your list are variants of SQL, which was originally developed at IBM. HERE is a page with a brief background on SQL that you might find helpful.
