Angry bought some memory that dont work

my computer supports 512MB pc133/100 max, i bought a 512 module that doesnt work

the official site for my mobo says it supports 512MB modules but another site says 256 modules max

and yes the module fits other specifications for compatibility listed [nonECC, unbuffered, 100/133, low density, etc]

im just taking a shot in the dark for a suggestion that could get this module working
[when i put it in; no error beeps- just a blank screen]

i had a 128mb pc133 in it.... i took it out and put in my new 512mb one and it doesnt work

i take ALL memory out and it is the same result as when the 512mb is in

if i put the 128mb and 512mb in at the same time it works but my system only reports the 128mb

im pretty sure that there is nothing to make this module work but after spending $60 i thought it worth a try to ask if some kinda bios trick would work

the 815e, if i remember can only handle 512mb of ram total...which means 256mb max per stick...my dad's computer has an 815e/p3 and i think it can only handle 512mb max...i could be wrong...but that could very well be your problem. i hope this helps.

yes the max ram is 512MB and i also heard of the "module slot divided by max ram" rule but the official compaq site states that a 512MB DIMM would work
