Wireless G

I was just wondering if wireless G was reverse compatible with wireless B and such. For example:
If I install a wireless G hub/switch/router will I be able to use my older wireless B cards to connect to it, and it will run at wireless B speeds?? or will I need an entirely new setup to switch to wireless G? This is probably a dumb question because one would assume they made this stuff this way but I haven't seen anything written about it or any posts about it and I wanted to know.

B and G are compatible. You can use B cards with G access points and G cards with B access points.

If you mix and match, you only go at B speeds. Even worse, if even ONE B card is on the wireless network, ALL G throughput goes down, since the G traffic suddenly starts having to have a "HEY! I'm G traffic! Better not think I'm B!" header put on it.

So yes, it will work, and B clients will notice no difference. G folks get handicapped by the B clients.

Edit: to clarify. If you have a G access point and a G wireless card, and a B card wanders into range, then the G traffic slows down.
