CPU Fan Header Failure - Help!

This issue deals with the first computer on my signature...

The fan mounted on the CPU HSF unit stopped working and, so, I thought it was a fan failure. I took an 80 mm fan and tested it on the same header to make sure it was the fan...but...the new fan didn't work. So, apparently the header has failed...

Any other ideas? I've tried removing the Audigy 2 and R9800 from the computer and it didn't help at all...Without those devices, there shouldn't be an extreme amount of power draw...

    Help!

it looks as if that header has gone bad. Is there another header on your board to plug the fan into and see if it works? If not you're gonna have to buy a splitter and run that fan of another fans header, or RMA the board.

The fan header breaking on the mobo sucks. If you really want to use the header then rma it. Otherwise just get a fan that hooks up directly to the power supply, all 3 of my fans are 4 pin fans that connect to the power supply. Only thing you will lose out on is fan monitoring. But liek i said before if it bothers you that much get a new one under warranty.

Yeah, fan control is very useful for this system since it is small form factor. I sent a message to Biostar support and one to Newegg asking about a potential RMA (as I have a security device attached to the back with strong adhesive and lack some of the included stuff, a CD and such, since I am at college). Lastly, I have a concern since I am at college...FedEx doesn't do PO boxes, and I have a PO box for mail...

    Bleh...

yea PO boxes suck. all the students at my school have po boxes too, but people still order online even though po boxes aren't allowed. They just put in address of the school as the shipping address i think and then the package reaches the mail room and they hold it for you and you go and pick it up, just like any other packages u get at school. See if you can do that. good luck
