problems with new ram module
i got a 128MB pc133 module working at pc100 in my system and when installing a 256MB pc100 module, all is fine [bios reports new memory total] but when the OS starts to boot, all will go blank, or a blue screen would come up which would do a memory dump
what can be the problem?
thanks

Great White Shark
I think mixing rams of different density and size is not a problem on newer mobos BUT it may be a problem on older ones. Please list your specs so that others can help ya.

i know they are pathetic buts its just a secondary PC:
1.2ghz celeron
128 pc133
5400us compaq mobo
ti200
-even if it was a compatibility issue, the 256MB module still dont work when i try it by itself

the tech staff for my PC suggested my to do a Full Restore of my OS; erasing everything
I'd HATE to do this and not have this memory problem solved....
do you think this would work?

No, not likely.
Memory incompatibilities are pretty common. Sometimes different types of memory just don't want to work together on some motherboards. The brand, speed, memory density, mobo chipset, and/or luck of the draw might just be conspiring against you.
Your odds are generally better if you stick to quality memory brands like Crucial, Kingston, Mushkin, or Corsair. If you're using generic memory, the odds are much higher that you'll run into compatibility problems. (Even with good memory, it happens once in a while when mixing memory types.)
