No, not likely.

Memory incompatibilities are pretty common. Sometimes different types of memory just don't want to work together on some motherboards. The brand, speed, memory density, mobo chipset, and/or luck of the draw might just be conspiring against you.

Your odds are generally better if you stick to quality memory brands like Crucial, Kingston, Mushkin, or Corsair. If you're using generic memory, the odds are much higher that you'll run into compatibility problems. (Even with good memory, it happens once in a while when mixing memory types.)
