Dual boot?
As soon as I get my delta sound card and prob a maxtor sata 10000rpm HD, Im gonna want to put my system on a dual boot. My music software seems to like win ME better than my XP. The thing is, I cant stand ME for anything else. I know boot magic which comes with the new partition magic will allow you to set up your MBR for dual boot, but I dont have that software, nor the cash for it right now. Is there any other way to set up dual boot? Maybe there is some free software utility I can use? I know some versions of linux have a program....but I dont want to install linux atm. Can someone please help meh? Thanks in advance (sharky kicks arse)!!

this is a guide that tells you how to do take a blank HD and do a dual boot on there without any extra software. Hope this helps.

You don't need third party software at all.
Just partition your drive however you like (I suggest a partition each for our OSes and a third for your shared data) using FDISK. Then simply install them in chronological order. Make sure to tell WinXP to do a fresh install rather than an upgrade (and make sure to choose the option where it asks you to decide where it is install - i.e. the 2nd partition).

Well I have two HD's right now, one 80gb for all my files, and a second for my OS and software (old 20gb 5200rpm that I will soon be replacing with a sata 10,000rpm). So if i fdisk my 20gb and partition it for two OS's, then install them on the different partitions, will that update my MBR? Will I be able to select which OS to boot from? I know in order to boot from a partition it has to be set as primary....so would I need two primary partitions??
I havent gotten a chance to check out that link yet TJ, but thanks, I'll take a look at it when I get home (working atm).
just fyi, I am going to be running XP and ME.....
