    Unhappy what is going on here?

    Ok the rig bellow is having power on issues. I push the power button and the pc beeps everything is coming on. But then no more than 3 seconds after the beep it shuts right off as soon as the hd starts to spin. Now i dont know why its doing this. I do admit i added copper heatsinks to the ram and a coper shim to the cpu. Also a power switch to my hsf, so what could be causing this problem the cpu fan is spining and it posts the ram is well seated. what could be doing this

    The shim can cause the heatsink to make poor or even make no contact with the processor which is bad. You may have a big problem if it wasn't making any contact.

    the shims are to ensure that you do not crack your processor when installing the heatsink. I don't think it's a problem on newer processors, haven't read one post about someone cracking a proc ever. I think it may have been sorta a problem with the old t-bird chips they were more fragile. But now there isn't a need for them.

    Why the switch in the HSF wire. You NEVER turn this fan off!

    please man i am not stupid. Its a switch that changes the fans speed from low to medium to high
