Flash BIOS and get higher temperature??
Hey guys, I just flashed my BIOS for my NF7-S rev2.0 to the newest one, and it turns out that my temperature shown on the MBM sensor has increased from 29C (idle) to 38C (idle). Is that a normal sign or is it becoz the new BIOS uses more voltage??
I am currently using AX7 & 80MM Tornade fan with a ducting mod in between them (Ceramique thermal compound also applied), and I have like 6 case fans fully running. Anyone got any idea on what's going on with my CPU temperature??

I'd just flashed my bios thru Abit's Flashmenu - thanks Abit, it rocks - from bios14 to 18. I noticed an icrease in temps too. My max OCed temp used to be around 41C, now I get 41C w/o running any cpu intensive app. Abit can never get the temp reading right, guess we'll have to wait for the next and better (hopefully) bios.

yeah...went from 16 to 18(bios) and my temps read about 5C higher...i don't know if it became more accurate or less....i guess they're just having problems correctly calibrating it???

Yup, it's like nVidia's SW IDE driver, they can NEVER get it right!

one thought i had is that maybe they're trying to calibrate it to simulate what the temp would be on-die instead of under the cpu. Maybe that's why it went up, cuz it's trying to show the "real" temp. But i'm just guessing...

I see.....so I guess I am not the only one that as noticed this change in temperature~~ =P
well, rite now my temp is 42 (loaded), so which is not that bad, so I guess I will just stick to it for now until the newer BIOS came out

Its better to have a reading that is higher rather than lower.

similar problem
I have a similar problem with my biostar M7NCD Pro. I flashed the bios to the newest and my tempuratures increased dramatically. I went from around 40 degrees Cel to 55 degrees cel at idle. This freaked me out, until I tested it. After cooling they system for hours I booted and went into the bios immediately. There it stated at boot in a cool room, that the cpu was at 45 degrees cel. Further, I put a temp monitor on the heat sink. The heat sink is showing 2-3 degrees farenheit, NOT Celsius, over ambient case temperature.
So, I just think they over adjusted for the under reading of the temperature sensor. I believe it may be the same in your case. Just make sure to keep it cool. I bet the next bios update will adjust the temperature readings again.
