dunno what you are refering to, but it didn't replace anything...brand new system for my house. My old Athlon 800mhz PC from 3 years ago was given to my dad last year, and I just used the one at work until I put this system together for my house.
hope that helps.

I didn't know it was part of a new system. I was interested in what you thought of it compared to CRT monitors.

I had it side by side with a friend's CRT a week ago (testing the dual monitor setting of my 9800) and it's not even close! As a matter of fact, the LCD seems "too bright" almost-- colors are just that vivid.
CRT was a 19", and the screen size was not bigger by much.

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about making my PC totally LAN worthy. It's already got the Lanboy case. Now I just need to shed some monitor weight.

The problem with LCD screens over 17" is that they "refresh" at around 25ns. That translates into 45FPS and there is noticable ghosting. The newer 17" ones "refresh" around 16ns, which is comparable to 60FPS and there is less ghosting. Generally, there is less color fidelity and a smaller viewing angle with the 17" though. The technology still hasn't been perfected. But if it is close, I might end up getting one for their portability, and the fact that they are easier on ones eyes.

I used to have an Apple 17" FP display, and loved it but had to sell it with the G4/933 I had.
Lately I've picked up this BenQ 17" FP767. It's been great on games - with its 16ms pixel speed I don't notice any "ghosting", and it's bright as can be (sometimes too bright and I have to turn it down).
Color rendition is fine for my purposes, I'm not using it for precise photo reproduction. And it's MUCH easier on the eyes that any CRT.
I'm never going back to conventional CRT's - that's for sure.
