My friend decided to try his first mod out this weekend so he brought over his P-II and we spent the last few nights adding a few things. The case is an awful design, but we found enough room for two 80mm exhaust fans on the top. They are pulling air right off the CPU and RAM so it's a pretty nice placement actually.

We cut out the two 80mm fan mounts on top, and then went for the window. Instead of a standard rectangle he opted for "The Blob" Basically a misshaped.... blob of a window... lol

It'll look a lot better when he gets some green lights in and cleans the inside up a lot. It has a long way to go but it was fun to mess around with The 'love machine' is pending the second color coat until I get some sandpaper and a new drop cloth and a not-rainy-cold day... so this gave us something to do.

Those top fans look like they pull air from the power supply, rather the CPU and RAM

Well the PSU is mounted vertically, so there is a large gap behind the PSU where the CPU and RAM are mounted. They're basically pulling air from behind the PSU, where all the heat is generated. It had nowhere to go before, the PSU vents are too far forward in the case.

And Terry, no, it's nothing that cool.. just a lousy Dremel job and a few fans

Well then that makes sense

Have anymore plans for this case? How bout a paintjob or something?

You could make some vents to go down the side ofthe power supply to the CPU area. That window is pretty nifty, that molding is huge is that the extra wide one?? Nice job lets hope he doesn't put the PII back in it.. LOL

Well I know he's going to pick up some green CCFLs then sleeve the PSU and cables to clean it up. Probably cut away some of the HD cage area because there is an excessive amount of metal in this case. I hope to God he paints it soon... I think it would look sweet with a dark green paint job and bright green CCFLs

Hehe, this molding is pretty big... it looks normal to me now, but I forget how it looked when I first got from UPS. It's the only molding I could find anywhere that was priced reasonably and had the right design... okay?!

Oh and unfortunately, yes, he is still using the PII in this rig. He blows all his money on records and DJ equipment instead of computer stuff. If I have my way this won't last much longer though
