128 vs 256

how big is the differnece in performance between a 9600 pro 128 and 9600 pro 256? ive heard conflicting views that 256 is better performance, and others say its just a tad mor in performance?

For the P9600 Pro 256MB is really pointless, becuase it's not fast enough to take advantage of 256MB. Take a look at the R9800 Pro 128MB VS 256MB, even with such a fast card there is barly any preformance difference.

the reason why there's no difference is because there's no games that even need 256mb...even ut2k3 in 1600x1200 4x fsaa and 16x af doesn't require 256mb...by the time you actually need 256mb the card will be too slow and need to be upgraded anyways...plus I've seen 256mb come with slower clock speeds which definately doesn't help...

it'll be too slow by the time you need it. Look at the geforce 3 which i think is the first card with 128MB(i could be wrong). It's too slow to run today's games at decent resolution and AA/AF.
