    Steam... has me steamed

    I can't even play 1.6 now.
After Steam "updated" itself someone ****ed it up. Now the icon to exit Steam instead of saying "exit" or "close" (whatever it was) it just says #SteamIU_Exit_Steam or some *** ****. And when I want to connect to servers. Can't do it - "cannot verify Steam_ID and Ticket" - then to close out of that nice little message I have to click on the #SteamIU_Close_MsgBox or something. Wow good job Steam, you really got me going now. I have quit CS. I have quit computer.

Hey, my steam says that #steam_exit and stuff liek that. It says it in that first window that opens when you start up steam, where it says "choose a game and start playing" and "find friends, chat, play together". I have that happening to me too, but steam still works and i can play counter-strike and everything. I was getting a verification problem too like you last night. I don't remember what exactly the error message was but i think it was similar. I think it happened some time around when it was "verifying" something when getting into the game and you see the loading bar. IT would just stop getting into the game and give me the verification error. To fix it I just logged out of my steam account (I have it on auto log in) and then I logged in again and all was well and I could play again. I don't like steam either and I don't think mnay people do, only cool thing is the buddy list.

On a side note, doesn't anyone know if you can get gamespy to work with steam? and if you can can you tell me?

Hehe, this thing looks rediculous! I still haven't played Steam yet, but from the things I keep on hearing every day about it, I don't even want to try it out.

After trying to "log out" and "log back in" which was easier said than done (since I couldn't tell which button logged out, exited, and logged back in) I have officially removed Steam from my computer. There is no point keeping something thats around 800MB on my computer if it doesn't ****ing work. Solitaire shall provide me with all the fragging action I need, especially when the cards fall to their deaths after I have pwn them and win the game. Enough said. Steam... enjoy:

    NO WONDER I'M SO SORE!

Sorry but it really pisses me off. Thats all we are all doing. Thats all that Steam is doing. I won't post it as an IMG but as a link instead. I couldn't find the .gif animation I saw on some forums before. **** steam. Just **** it. Worst move ever.
    Enough said.

That's easy to fix. Just log out of steam then log back in.

Trunks I did that and it still doesn't work. It won't find any servers... at all. This thing has been a pain in the *** ever since the day it came out. And then CAL decides to ok the shield. Oh well... Steam will improve but I'll be nowhere near it when it does. PZ.

Mine was screwed up like that too. I couldn't get a serverlist either.

Reinstalled the 700meg cache files and stuff, and all is well again.

-edit- Cheating is still bad. I actually saw one hardcore cheater today. Didn't care about what we said. There was no admin, we couldn't do anything. Oh well, just had to find another server.

Valve better live up to this "we are in contact with you, so we can change the code constantly to keep cheaters out" mantra that they've been talking about ... so far ... no good ...

Will steam be HL2's in-game browser? Will it be built into HL2? Or will it be installed seperately?

Yeah you can get Steam to work with Gamespy. Steam moves a bunch of files out of your halflife or CS directory, including the hl.exe file. I installed Steam in C:\Program Files\Steam, so my hl.exe file (for playing coutner strike) is in C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\counter-strike.

Now, though, I can't get steam to f***ing run CS (or even HL). In fact, when i open steam and click the games button, it doesn't show ANY!

IMHO Steam was the worst thing Valve could have done (or, at least, they executed extremely poorly), and i rarely say stuff like that. But come on, now NOTHING works...

anyway, hopefully they'll get it fixed soon. Good luck
