    I need a good overclocker(AMD)...

Today I was offered a great good deal on an Augigy MP3+, so in order to keep the upgrade price at my alotted $90(which is what my 2500+ was going to cost), I'm now considering the 1700/1800+ to compensate. I'm aware of the new "X" stepping among those, but what models are shipping with it? I'll be buying the Retail version of either of those, BTW.

I guess I wouldn't be opposed to offers on used CPUs either, but PM with that so we avoid locking thread because of an auction.

I won't be doing more than 1.85v on this CPU most likely either.

    Thanks.

after seeing my barton reach what it did...i really think a barton is the way to go. I get 2.3ghz no prob under 1.85v. Almost 2.4....the extra cache is always a help, too. They're only like $84...it's a great deal. Good luck with whichever you choose!

The Retail(which I need) is $90 shipped. That leaves $0 for the Audigy...the deal I've been offered isn't that good!

Please, let's stay on topic here...talking about the Barton only makes me cringe... I'd be happy to consider it again if someone wants to pay the difference though.

dont bother, you already have a nice xp1800 and besides if you limit yourself to 1.85v you wont gain much, if any over what you got. Get better cooling and pump 2.1v and see if you can get like 210x10 for 2.1GHz

I think the 1700+/1800+ is a good idea. Not only do you get the benefit of a good OC'er, but you get to experience the "trickle effect". You can use your current CPU and Live! in another machine, while making out quite nicely for yourself.

I tried something just over 1.835ghz...1.9v couldn't make it boot into 2K I don't think. Can't remember exactly.

The CPU I'm using now will go into a secondary rig that lacks a processor.

i would just wait a bit longer till you have more money for a proc...and 2.1v for only 2-2.1Ghz is not worth it...

First, my cooling can't handle that.
    Second, I want a new proc with a good stepping...meaning I won't need 2.1v for 2.1GHZ.

My parents are mad that I want to spend more money as it is. They though the new mobo(8RDA+) would be enough...silly parents...

yeah...a barton is the way to go...with the newer steppings, you'll prolly get 2200 at stock, 2400 could be in your range. Just wait awhile and get some more cash. You'll thank me later.

edit: i didn't know they had jixib's at newegg!!! Those seem pretty decent, but needing 1.85v for 2.3 ghz is not anything great...i only need 1.775 at max...and the newer steppings of bartons are better yet.
