Buying a computer in London....
My sister is in London for school, and she needs to buy a notebook. As i learned from friends , computer prizes in London are higher than the other parts of europe. She has no computer knowladge at all. So what is the best way to buy a computer in London? Is it better to buy from an online shop ,if so , which online shop is reliable and cheaper .? If we decide to buy a used laptop , do you know any reliable seller ?

Agreed. Build it, install windows and that, and ship it with lots and lots and lots and lots of foam The shipping might be a bit of money but you'll save tons over buying parts from there.

A couple of the better UK on-line retailers
http://www.dabs.com/
http://www.novatech.co.uk/
They both do very fast delivery and have reasonable aftersales support.
She might also want to consider going to a PC World. She'll pay slightly extra and the sales people are sometimes pushy and not very knowledgeable but at least if she does have a problem afterwards she has someone she can shout at and I believe they have a 24/7/365 phone problem solving service.

You could always have a look and then tell her what she needs to buy when she goes in so the sales people can't rip her off.
EDIT:
For those saying to build one and ship it. I could work but it might also arrive with a bill for 17.5% VAT (Value Added Tax). Our Customs are tricky people to deal with and I'm not totally sure where the law stands on this. Anyone know??

My System:
XP1900 with CoolMaster Aero 7+ : 768mb RAM PC333 : MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR : Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb : Samsung 80gb SATA : Maxtor 120gb 7200rpm : Pioneer DVD-120S : BTC 48x16x48x CD-RW : Pioneer 106 DVD-+R(W) : SB Live : 3COM NIC : CTX 350w PSU : Compaq P910 19" Monitor : Lian Li PC-7 : Logitech Keyboard : Logitech MouseMan Dual Optical
All problems can be solved by diplomacy, but violence and treachery are equally effective, and more fun.

Mr Zurkon is here to kill
well you can't really build it in the first place since it's a laptop...
Lian Li PC-K7B | Intel i5 750 | 4GB A-Data 1600 | Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R | XFX Radeon 5850 | 2-640GB WD Caviar Blue | X-fi Xtrememusic | Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra | Dell U2311H | Antec Basiq Plus 550W | NEC 3550A | Win7 Ultimate x64
and a whole lot of lovin..

Thanks for the replies .
I checked the sites you suggested. It seems Computer prizes in England are high , but higher than the rest of the Europe , not higher than Turkey . Prizes here , in Turkey , are almost the same as England , so it is not cheaper to send an laptop from here.

What about a tier 1 OEM with expanded warranty or tier 2.
With a tier one like Dell, you can not only get student discounts potentially (some t2's do too, esp' for Windows, office etc.) but you can also get extended warranty support. Furthermore, a tier 1 vendor will most likely have European support/warranty rather than UK or France or wherever, therefore, you can buy it wherever's cheapest and still get support. I know people that even buy U.S. Dell's and Toshiba laptops that actually purchase and renew their support in the US, but still get UK support due to the terms of the US offering that is also much cheaper.
In terms of Tier 2's, you may want to look at Mesh or the like, but I'm not a big laptop user/fan so am not really too up on the Tier 2 vendors as our contract at work is £m's pa and is Dell.
Work1 - Dell Optiplex GX240 | P4 2.4GHz @ 2.4GHz | 512MB PC2100 DDR-SDRAM | 15" UltraSharp LCD.
Work2 - Dell Precision 410 | 2*PIII 500MHz | 512MB SDRAM | 2* 16GB SCSI

Stear clear of Mesh as a UK retailer. They suck bad.
Evesham and Dell are your best bet.
But if a laptop is what she needs she may be better just buying from the highstreet (PCworld, Comet etc).

You could try www.ebuyer.com or www.aria.co.uk or ebay. Also i think Dell have some good prices.
