CD boot Linux distro

Every once in a while, I go out on the net searching for a good CD Linux distro. In the past, I've found one or two that were ok, but just didn't seem to work right. Currently, I'm looking at getting Knoppix, which I describe below, and am wondering what people's opinions of it are; and if there is a better one out there. I plan on running it in English mode, so if it only has certain programs in German, that probably would not be good.

Knoppix is originally a German distro but works fine in English. You can download and burn the bootable iso CD image and it will boot straight to the KDE desktop. The great thing about it is that there is a console that you can type options in during boot (expert mode) or you can choose to load settings from a floppy disk or mount point. Also, while running Knoppix, you can at any time save the current settings to a floppy or mount point for future use. As far as I can tell, a hard drive is not required, provided you have enough RAM.

Yea, knoppix is definatly the best of the bunch, but because it is so heavily compressed 2.5gb on 1 cd, the loading time are terrable unless you have a really fast scsi drive and a super speedy cpu.
I'd recommend Vector Live!, its much slimmer, and great if you wanna see how linux works. http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=28

hmmm, I got knoppix but haven't done anything or tired it out yet. I'll download the vector linux live iso tomorrow while I'm at work so I can mess around with the two

I really like ByzantineOS. It uses DirectFB which I believe will be the future of Linux Desktop. At least I'm hoping.

it seems like there are tons of live CDs out there now. there's one based on slackware, too:
