    Angry *sigh* overclock troubles

Ok, I try to overclock...again. I raise the FSB by 4 mhz and exit BIOS. Ok, now the computer won't even go into the BIOS startup screen. I reset the CMOS. I boot, go into the BIOS and configure all of mysettings like they were before. I restart, and Windows says the Windows system file is either missing or corrupt. What went wrong? I have temporarily overclocked to 2.2 Ghz without crap like this. In any case, I'm going to reformat tommorow and try another overclock. I didn't get PC 3200 RAM and a SLK-800 for nothing, DAMMIT ... TIA

What do you have the memory timings set at, also what do you have your vcore set on.

A little more info: when I change a BIOS setting and save and exit, where there was once a waring screen telliing me not to power off while BIOS is saving my settings, now there is none, but the settings are still saved. I can get into Windows, logging in through my account, but once in, my background loads, and nothing else

Have you tried using a lower multiplier like 7 or 8 and then raise your fsb a little at a time to see how high it will go and raise your vcore a little to stablize it when you need too. Then raise your multiplier and get it as high as you can stable. Then last but not lease manually set your memory timings at the most aggressive you can. Keep a eye on your temps and PSU rails while doing this. As far as the warning screen is concerned it don`t show it everytime and be sure to use the save and exit feature in bio`s instead of the key shortcut and do not change too many things at one time in bio`s also.

Last time I tried, I lowered my multi to 6 and tried rasing the FSB but the same thing happened, only without the corrupted system file. Maybe the multi was too low...or maybe I'm cursed...

Try it at 10x200 and see if it will work at that setting with stock vcore, also make sure you have your cpu interface set to agressive in bio`s or whatever your MB calls it and see if that helps. Your MB is real picky with some types of ram, I don`t know if the ram you have is one of them or not.

I think the first thing to do is to raise voltages.....also, Corsair memory is one brand that has no issues with any mobo, AFAIK....

Nah, I have the NF7 and XMS (which I'm trying to sell so I can get something above PC3200! nobody wants it though *shameless plug*) and it worked great. Try the stick in a different dimm slot. And you are trying to go above 200 fsb? Run memtest to see if your ram/chipset can handle it first. Set the multiplier low, boot it up and run test 5 only. If it passes you should be gold.
