Being an Audigy 2 owner, I still wouldn't mind seeing some competition in the mainstream soundcard market. It can only benefit the consumer.

In early 2000 NVIDIA acquired virtually the whole patent portfolio as well as hired development staff from Aureal

Yeah this may prove to be very impressive. I'm actually hoping a nVidia product works. It'd be nice to see people actually asking which sound card to get. Creative or nVidia? I don't know much about the Turtle Bay cards, are they even contendors anymore?

I stand corrected. I had to do a driver search for a friend for one of those cards and almost never the right ones. But I did find some that worked good enough.

    This would be awesome!

    Nvidia kicking ceatives butt!

Some more competition in the soundcard market is definately better.

Hope we will see some better drivers also, ans less CPU dependent soundcards.

And hopefully creative will get off their butt and release a 3D Labs 3d card to compete with Nvidia.

Because it seems like Nvidia is going to take over some pretty big amount of sales and cutomers from Creative.

I didn't regard the soundstorm as better than the Audigy1.
hey would seriously have to release something better than the Audigy2 ZS. That will be extremely hard... I think they'll just go after the mid-range instead of the high-end.... They'd need a lot to enter that market. Creative also has the high-end tied (to an extent) with the release of the new gigaworks. I don't see it happening. They'd have to sign some partnerships first...

Give em time, they'll come out of this with some good market share. Yeah I agree they won't slam Creative any time soon. Given some time to work out all the kinks they could have a real monster on their hands, and they will at the very least match Creative.
