Depends on what you're gonna use it for though. If it's just gonna be a storage drive set as slave, then I'd pick it up

it'll be for my gaming rig ...
I know 2 mb isnt must but 50cent for half gig is a pretty sweet deal ..
I am just lost ... so bad idea? go with less space with better performance??
by the way it is 7200 rpm tho

I'd go with an 8mb cache drive if I were you. You can probably find a 160gb WD 8mb drive for around $100 somewhere on sale in the sunday paper.

From what I remember, you rarely if ever use the cache on a hard drive anyways unless it gets load spikes, and even then wouldn't use that much of it. So if it's 7200 rpm with low seek time, I don't see the big deal. I thought 8 mb cache was a marketing gimmick like ata-133 was.

Good price for a 180gig. If you want performance as well you can pick up a Maxtor 160gig with 8mb cache from staples right now for $130 with a $30 mail in rebate. Link is here.

Is this a mass retailer deal or something only you can get~ I'd grab one just for storage... movies, mp3, etc stuff that really doesn't matter if its 2mb cache~
