I've got a 16MB ATI Rage128 from about six years ago. If you can mod it to a 9600 Radeon or newer, I'll give you a book allowance too.

Why would you need such a fast card? College students don't need anything more than a integrated graphics chip, not unless they plan to game or if their major is engineering related.

What I like about college is that I was from the bottom of the economic ladder and now in college that's no more. Primarily cause of financial aid and I work crazy hours to make crazy money (didn't have that luxury as much back at home). Funny thing though, now in my school I it the stereotype of my school being full of overachievers.

    Ways to make college cheaper:
Get as many books from the library, buy a month in advance and purchase online. Go for everything 'used' but good condition. When selling them back, sell them online (you pretty much break even).

Also, buy a copying machine. Make copies of those small books that cost like $60 but are only like 120 pages. (I bought the Canon Personal copier PC 428 for $80 (plus $20 shipping) brand new!

Become an elected member in a club that you're into. This way during the summer you can use their club room as a storage facility.

Spend smart, never pay retail, and get a job.

So for i've mentioned how to get free storage, by the end of the year only spend $50 (max) on books, and have a copying machine that will pay in itself.

It's also cool how most of the stores around campus offers great prices. Like my dad always says, only in America.

Yep, you setup your own schedule and you don't have to kill yourself studying (only on midterm and final exams).

Hey where is a good place online to sell your books? I've always thought about selling them on ebay but never did.

College is great though, I do what I want pretty much. It's tough going home with the parents though, since you're not used to having rules and crap

Best place that I would say is amazon.com and half.ebay.com

The only class I remember not reading the entire book for was an English class. I'm a junior now, and every book i've bought the prof. has required me to read the whole thing....

im takin 15 credits (mon-fri) and i work fri -mon night as a waiter at a expensive japaneses steakhouse in ft lauderdale...all money i do make (if any since its tip sharing) goes to school and debt (which im almost outta credit debt, only took 5 years) so i really dont get to spend money on myself... im a HEAVY gamer, and id like a brand new vid card to use its not that i need it for school , although visual c++ might be BAD AZZ at 70 fps!!!!!!!! WITH AA ON!!!!

and i hope every1 realizes that i was just posting a silly thread, i know no one wants to give me a brand new 9600 pro... but if ya did please do! it never hurts to ask
