Damnit I hate finding good deals on stuff after buying something. A friend at a laptop store cut me a deal for 1250USD on a Centrino Lappy. I think I'm going to return this thing and get that one.

    Specs:
    Centrino 1.5ghz
    512DDR
    40Gig HDD
    15" SXGA
    DVD/CDRW Combo drive
    XP Home
    Integrated Wireless
    Like 4 USB (some 2.0)
    NIC/Modem integrated
    ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility 32MB
    Plus 2yr extended warranty 195USD

What do you guys think? Should I take the Fujitsu back and get the Centrino??

Yeah, see if you can get that video card bumped up to 64 MB. The ideal thing would be to get the Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro but that's probably out of the question.

    Soooo, should go for it.

    Awesome lappy for that price.
But you would pay at least $100 more for 64MB.
    And probably 3-400 for 9600

    heres one from a 8500...

I talked to the guys and they're not sure how much video ram it has . Newbs, anyways I'm gonna go check it out and play with it after school today and hopefully it turns out to be all that I hoped for. If it is then I'll say bye to my Fujitsu and pick this one up. Wish me luck .

OK I went there on Sat. because I got lazy on Fri. . The specs are what I said before only it's a Radeon 9000 Mobility 64MB RAM but I'm a bit skepticle, the brand on the lappy is ECS. I have one of their motherboards here and it runs fine for me and all, but I don't know if I trust them with 1200USD. Anyone ever buy one of these or know of any reviews I could look at. The laptop seems to run fine except for the mouse touchpad, it bugs me a bit. I can deal with it since I'm probably going to be using a USB mouse most of the time. Any input??

if you are going to be using it somewhere where you can plug it in most of the time, you're better off with a P4 or P4M. You just need a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. The big advantage of a centrino is battery life. Most P4s or P4Ms kill centrions in speed.

That's odd. From what I've read here and other places the Centrino based laptops (Pentium M) are on par with P4 and P4M. I've read that the a P4/P4M of 2.4Ghz is equivalent to a Pentium M of 1.6Ghz or so.

well kind of... i guess its more personal opinion, but the centrions were designed for general productivity (word processing, web browsing, etc.) so for those takes a 1.6 PM would perform around the same as a 2.4 P4 or maybe faster. However for gaming and multimedia, the P4s or P4Ms are much better. Centrinos were not designed to handle these tasks.

My best guess on why people are getting good results playing games on centrinos would be because the graphics card (most centrinos have a good one) is making up for what the centrino lacks.

Anyone else have any insight on this?
