time fixed the problem of my PC automatically turning itself back on like 5 minutes after i shut down but now its back...
im sure i could fix this my unplugging the PC for a while but am still curious of what causes this

What peripherals do you have hooked up? My APC UPS will wake up my desktop whenever the power flickers.

My next guess would be Wake-on-LAN. Next time you shut down, pull the ethernet cable and see if the wakeup issue goes away.
If it doesn't, you may be looking at a flakey switch on the case or powersupply.
