    Weird modem issues.

    My friend pc when she tries to dial out with her modem it just clicks and doesnt dial out. So went to look at it i thought because its so old and she said it was hit by lighting. So she bought a replacement modem. I then installed it into her pc and it still clicked everytime it dialed out and never connect to the net. I then thought maybe the pc got fried when the lighting hit it. So we go to the pc store bought a new mobo, cpu. After i put it in the case and set up winxp home it STILL CLICKED.

    What could have happend to her modem line in her room to cause that?

    If you plug a normal phone into the line do you get a dialtone?

    If so, is it a normal dialtone (in the uk, we get a different tone if we got a message waiting).

    The phoneline connecting to the PC could be shot after the lightning hit.

    I think that was what happend. I am going back tomarrow with a new cable to fix it but man thats weird.
