AlienWare is pissing me off help me

They offer a centrino Proc without a 3d card

    and a P4 desktop proc with a 3d card

problem is I know the p4 proc's eat batteries like kiddies eat candy!

k now I need help people I have 2.3 k to spend, I want a 15 in screen a decent proc that wont eat my battery.

A place that has a warrenty like Alienware does (solid basically)

and a decent video card nothing HL2 ready or any crazyness like that but something that can handle todays games at a decent rate (read 30 fps)

so all you guys sitting in your cubicals at work give me a hand would ya? i dont have access or time at work/school to shop for this thing so try to give me ideas!

BTW this basic rig was what I was looking at but Ive heard the battery time is really short!

I was planning on getting that exact laptop for christmas, but then i read (on this forum) that the p4 will use the entire battery in 30 minutes while gaming, which is absurd. www.voodoopc.com has a centrino laptop for sale with an ATI Mobility 9000 64MB DDR. so you might want to go check that out. I plan on going with the centrino.

I have the Dell 8500, it plays games great. I took it to QuakeCon this year and left the desktop on the desk. I've played Wolfenstein: ET for about 2 hours on battery life before, longer if I had my second battery in instead of the CD-ROM.

Anyway, it had the 4200 Go and it handles today's games pretty well. If I dumb down HL2 and D3 it should play those not too badly when I'm away from home.

Very nice laptop though you might want to bump up the memory a bit.
Especially for playing BF1942 I wouldn't worry about battery life, just try to be near a wall jack and also get a universal adapter for car rides and flights.

I would say go with a Dell laptop... The alienware looks nice, but who wants a laptop that will need to be plugged in before Windows XP had completely finish loading

    Centrino laptops look real nice

    EDIT:
I personally like IBM laptops to most others.. But they are not really gaming machines, but more business professional... It is also hard to find a laptop maker that supports the stick mouse instead of the track pad.. I really hate that pad!

If you can get a 8200 with a nice P4M and a 9000 cheap thats the sweet spot.
Llke I have said my 8100 with P3 1.1ghz and 9000 runs bf42 like a champ. Get 40-50 fps on 1024 settings maxed.

Only thing is be sure to get alot of ram, the 8200 has ddr 2100, which I am sure is great stuff.
