    IDE slave/master question

i have only one IDE ribbion and the design of the cable/layout of my case forces me to have the cd-rw be the master and the HD be the slave....

a roommate said your HD should always be the master and your cd drives should be the slave....is this true? [i personally didnt believe it but checked here for verification]

he's 100% correct. Your hard drive is where all the action is - keep it Master!

Unless you are going cable select, it doesn't matter on which connector the drive is connected. Make the hard drive master and the ATAPI drive the slave drive.
