i have the old v.2-400s and the new 5.1ultras, there is really no comparrisson, the ultras are head and shoulders above the 4.1 sets. if you have the money, there is no competition.

Ordered the 4.1's from klipsch, they got em back in stock. Nice thing though they have good resale value so if I upgrade to ultras at least these dont goto waste

Refurb, $129.99. New sets seem kind of hard to find as I'm guessing they don't make em anymore and are ~$200.00. I can live with the lower warrenty and possible cosmetic problem if it saves 70 bucks.

awesome. i would have gotten them refurbed, i mean, they're gonna get cosmetic imprefections in them anyways, so why not save the 70 bucks, right? i might get 2.1 set for my laptop later.

Eh, you want hold up on that thought. Do this. take your ultras and connect them to your lappy. (Yes, I understand that it'll play in 2.1 mode. But you'll see a large degrade in sound quality. The soundcards in laptops do a true injustice to speaker systems. I'm speaking from experience.
