    powerdvd xp deluxe 4.0

what's the best setting for this? is 6 speaker 5.1? i'm confused. should i use spdif? the only option under advanced for 6 speaker is using dolby pro logic 2, whereas there's a lot more options avaliable under 2 speaker, even a schematic of 5.1. i'm confused...

The speaker positioning option just lets you pan your speakers. I believe it's for 2.1 systems, so it can be given variables to enter on how you want your simulated surround to sound like.

    Anyway, yes 6 channel is 5.1 (5.1 = 5 channels and a sub, effectively 6 channels).

Also, unless you're using a the SPDIF on your soundcard, you shouldn't use the SPDIF option.

okay, that's what i thought, i was confused a little when it it said 6, so i immediately thought 6.1. i'll use 6 speaker, with dolby pro logic II enabled with my audigy 2 and klipsch ultras, unless there's a better option for watching DVDs.

For powerdvd xp 4 use the "6" speaker setting with klipsch 5.1s.
They somehow counted in the .1 into that. also make sure to set your environment to quiet and turn on your LFE channel :O

That terminology actually doesn't seem all that unusual; my TBSC labels 5.1 as "6 speaker" as well.

Ok this is what we thought Pinchy...I didn't have these options because of my onboard. I'm glad to hear that when my A2 and Ultra's get here all the goodies will be available
