never thought id be happy to hear an error beep code....

but after today im so relieved and happy to hear one....the only sign of life i got out of my system besides the massive humming of a tornado and smart fan 2 and a power light on my mobo

-the beep is a single one second beep every 4 or so seconds

can this beep mean that my cpu is working or is my mobo able to independently make a beep?

    Why are you happy?

The mobo can independently make a beep, that's what mine did for a week.

Hey, with the bios corruption in the nforce boards, there's been times when I would have gave my left manberry to hear that beep.

Aren't beep codes different for different mobo manufacturers?

What mobo do you have? The one in your sig?
Have you tried search the beep code at the manufacturer's website?

Here's the manual for your MB

    http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...ries=1&model=8

[edit] of course, it doesn't have the beep codes in it as far as I could tell, however it does mention methods for recieving tech support you could try, sorry [/edit]

Being an Abit NF7 I'm willing to bet it is a motherboard issue, and could very well be a BIOS problem.
