    Front USB problems

I'm using an Epox 8RDA+ motherboard.

This is really bugging me. My front USB ports don't seem to work when i connect my Sony F717, but if I plug the camera in the rear ports, everything works fine.

I unplugged my USB mouse from the rear and put it in the front USB ports and that seemed to work.

I redid the wiring like 4-5 times to make sure that wasn't the problem.

I unplugged the front USB wires from the mobo and plugged in the rear USB bracket that came with the mobo, which I wasn't using. The camera worked when i did this. It seems strange to me because I plugged this rear bracket into where the front USB wires are suppose to go.

I'm so confused. I lost the CD for the 8rda+ so I just downloaded everything off the internet. When i go into systems under control panel, all the hardware looks good, no driver conflicts, until of course I plug in my F717 into the front USB ports of the case. It says unknown device.

I installed the unified drivers from their site. Is there USB drivers I'm missing?

I also lost the cd to my camera (both cd's were placed in one cd case ). I couldn't find the drivers off Sony's site, but this camera didn't require drivers on my other computers.

    What do i do?

Below is a quote from the Epox web site that you may have missed. I assume you are using Windows XP. Have you installed SP1 for XP or did your version of the software come with it included? Doubleclick on the System icon in Control Pannel to to see if SP1 is installed. Your problem may be nothing more than a defective front case port assy. since your hardware works when you connect it to the rear port assy. supplied with the motherboard.

I just did a clean install using Windows XP SP1 (SP1 included on the CD).

It might be the front USB ports are broken, but I don't understand why it use to work and why the mouse is able to operate on it.

I also installed the unified drivers. Verions 2.4x is the most current one out now and that's what I installed.

Yes, it use to work for the camera, after the reformat and relocation of the computer, it doesn't.

Before the format, i was using windows XP that didn't have sp1 pre installed, i installed sp1 using windows update.

The copy of xp pro I installed came with sp1 on the cd.

    Not sure if this matters..
