FSB overclocking program
I have a friend who owns an Asus P4P800-VM paired with a P4 2.4C.
This is a micro-atx motherboard with onboard video. There is nothing in the bios that allows for overclocking.
What is the best/latest program to overclock the CPU?
If we do overclock that puppy, does the motherboard automatically lock the agp/pci freq?
thanks!

I originally posted about where to look – but after looking at the user’s manual – I was shocked at what I saw. You are indeed correct. From what I see that board at present time does not allow manipulation of the FSB – other settings, but not FSB. I could have missed something – but that BIOS does not look like my P4T533 or the P4C800 DX E I just built for a friend.

I am 100% sure there is no fsb adjustments in the bios of the Asus p4p800-vm. That's why I'm asking for FSB overclocking programs.
C'mon guys! Offer some recommendations!

The only overclocking app I've ever used is Fuzzy Logic, I was just curious so I gave it a try. Just to warn you, it overclocks until it crashes, then restarts you @ a slightly lower FSB. I got better results doing it myself so I never really used it too much. You can find it here:

That seemed odd to me and I looked again – still no go.
The difference in BIOS is in the P4C800 DX-E and the BIOS on the VM is that in the Advanced Menu there is no selection for Jumperfree Configuration on the VM and that is where the OC’ing features are located on the E model. I am sure that at some point there would be a hacked BIOS or something that would allow increasing the FSB via the BIOS if there is not one available now. It still seems odd that the VM is locked. Granted all I have looked at is the user’s manual on the Asus site and not sat down at the screen – I am sure you have looked and know what you are looking for. I wish you luck and if I come across any information that will be of your use I will forward it to you.

If you're talking about my link, you just have to scroll down a bit, I just checked again, it's there.

Best program out is SetFSB. I am not sure if it supports your MB or not.

SpeedFan may also alow for fsb changes. If it supports your motherboard...

*gasp* Why would Asus not let you change the FSB on this? Isn't the only difference between that board and my P4P800 the addition of the graphics chip? (well, and this surprising news)

I don't under stand what you are trying to point out... are you being sarcastic?
The p4p800-vm is a micro-atx board with only 3 pci slots and onboard video. Its not designed for overclocking so that's why Asus didn't include this settings in the bios.

I believe that he thought it was similar to his own board, with the only difference being the onboard graphics. Since he may have thought this, he might have been curious why it doesn't have BIOS FSB settings and his does. That is my guess to what he meant, I don't think it was sarcasm.

its a microATX board... i currently dont know of any microATX or ITX boards that support full overclocking (fsb and vcore)

SetFSB is your best bet. I used it solely on my 8K5A2+ for about 4 months before I got a new board. You gotta make sure you get the right version for your board though, or else you can run into serious problems. I am pretty sure there is a version for your board, but I really only know things on AMD's side.
