I own a cube and it is a great system. The Xbox has a reputation of being prone to breaking, one of the reasons I'm glad the cube doesn't have a hard drive. I think the graphics are comparable between the Xbox and Cube. If you own a computer, I don't think there is a reason to own an Xbox. If you're a college guy, I think there are more games on the PS2 that will appeal to you.

The Wonder Taskmaster
i have been wanting a GC for some time now just to try it out... But from what i can tell from people that have all 3. The XBOX has great graphics but not a big selection and there games that are worth playing are few and far between. While the PS2 has tons of games you can play. While GC has good games but they more focused to 13 and below and its rare to find a rated M game.

You dont really need an M game to have a good time. Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Viewtiful Joe - All excellent games!

I own all 3 systems
and this is how I always sum it up
if the game comes out on all 3 I buy it for XBOX.
Each console has its flagship titles if you have to have one then get the console its on, but if your not going for a specific game then id say get the box.

I just wish there was some way to mod my PC to play XBOX games, and use that nifty controller.

Never said that. But I don't want a good game that looks like sh*t either. I guess I'm after the one with the most potential and best graphics quality. I believe in time that there will be plenty of good games on all three systems. I've already picked out several on all of them which I like.

I know those are cool games I am just saying what most people have told me. I liked that game monkey ball even though it is a kiddy game.

speaking on the controller. How well does the controller work with first person shooter games? I don't see how it could be better than the easy movement a mouse gives you.

There really is no comparison. There are some people who've never even played a PC game with the keyboard/mouse setup, and swear that the gamepad is king. These people are sadly mistaken. The truth is you will feel like sending the controller flying through the screen the first time you try playing a console FPS, but as you keep it up you will get used to it.

What are some good role playing games for each of the systems? Does anyone remember the game 'romance of the three kindoms' or 'ghengis khan'? Does anything like those exist anymore or a civilization type game?

If your into rpgs, get a ps2 hands down no question about it. Xbox and Gamecube have hardly any rpg games.

nuclear launch detected
heres my take
xbox :
-pro: best for modding/pirating.. best graphics, hdtv support
-con: mediocre selection of games
gamecube :
-pro: select few GEM quality games... CHEAP!
-con: cant play dvds, (controller sucks for some games fighting), bad online support
ps2 :
-pro: best selection of games (fighting games, rpgs, racing.. all best on ps2), most versatile controller
-con: worst load times... expensive
im not gonna say that xbox has supoerior hardware or ps2 has crappy hardware, etc.. cause for console.. it all depends on the implementation... look at GT4 and Killzone for PS2, easily has better graphics than the competing xbox games like halo.. also if you look it multi-platform games... you cant pick a clear winner... madden is the best for xbox but ssx3 is best on ps2, etc

There was actually a new Romance of the Three Kingdoms just released for PS2. Another similar game you would like is Dynasty Tactics.
