    K7S5A Pro Rev. 5

Anyone have any problems with these lately?? I have an older non-pro one and it runs like a champ but these new ones are so messed up it's not even funny. They refuse to load Win XP, atleast for me they do, and load every other OS out from M$. Tried to update the BIOS and it killed the motherboard completely, just my luck too.

One of my rigs is an ECS K7S5A PRO that runs like a sewing machine.
Built it last January when the "Pro" version 1st came out.
Oh yeah, I'm running XP w/Service Pack 1 and DirectX 9.0B.

My Revision three has never given me a single a problem.

Nabby, how about a little more info? I've never heard of a mobo not working with an OS, specifically with any M$ OS.

What do you mean it killed it your motherboard? What happened during the flash process?

Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

It doesn't matter anymore that got returned and I bought something else. I'm not exactly sure what happened after the flash process. It restarted and then nothing. I was like crap there it goes.

I honeslty don't know why but it didn't want to run XP at all and the CD works fine with other computers. It kept hanging at the screen that said "Setup is starting windows" and then poof freeze. Any other OS ran just fine like Win98Se, NT, 2K. It just refused to run XP for some reason.

Also I have a revision 3 as well and that thing runs like a champ but this one was more of a chump.

thats too bad, ive only had one glitch with both of mine..

    this happened on both boards:
one day out of the blue, i booted up the system and it took me straight to the bios.. it had reset/cleared and i needed to re-affirm the settings and set the date..

as mentioned, they both did this at one point, so i replaced the batteries and ive not had any issues since..<fingers crossed X X >

but i will say, that im replacing one of them as part of an upgrade..
my daughter is becoming more of a power user(at freaking 12 yrs old) and would like some more beef..

so i got her an Shuttle AN35N and a 2500xp barton(keeping the same hardware otherwise).. virtually the same money i spent on the one she has now.. but its yet to be assembled.. as im waiting on a new box/psu.. perhaps this week or weekend when i get some time..

itll be interesting to bench it against my p4 2.4b..
i expect it to do very well..(for only a little ca$h)
[b]I was supposed to work like I don't need the money, love like I've never been hurt and dance like I do when nobody's watching.
Instead, I've been dancing like I needed the money, loving like no one is watching and working like I've been hurt.

I figure the Barton/Shuttle combo just may spank your 2.4B...

actually i suspect that it will "better it" in many of the benchies that i have, pc mark sandra 3dmark, superPi etc. (mostly what flies around here)...

i really hope it doesnt "spank" it ..
(or i might be re-arranging some hardware)

im a firm believer in the process that amd moves data to and from the processor..
IMO (from what little i understand it) it is/was more efficient(not including HT) and since AMD followed suit in the die process the chips are much cooler in operation.

at the time i picked up the 2.4b the processor heat was still an issue and second rev of XP**** processors was just getting big.. the trade off was a more expensive AMD mobo and a cheaper CPU or a less expensive mobo(w/533 fsb & HT) and a more expensive cpu..(thats an excellent OC'er as well)..

It's a good thing this topic changed a bit. I've been looking into a Shuttle Board for my second computer here. Let me know how it handles and such I would really like to know. The AN35-Ultra is like 60 bucks at newegg. I need a budget board for this rig, as long as it runs fine and has no problems I'm down to get one.

un4given has one and he seems to be doing well with finding the limits.. from what he's written about it so far, its stable at a pretty good OC..

but ill tell you for free that my AN35 likely wont be pushed to that extreme(least-wise not yet..), so i expect it to be very stable at normal settings.

I got one today. It seems good but I need some advice on what Nforce drivers are best. I personally have no experiance with the nforce chipset so anything would help.
