    Case fan -- size question

I'm using an antec clone case which has those harddrive racks/compartments that you can detach and fit a fan. I had a spare 80mm case fan which I tried fitting in there but there were obvious fitment issues. The other rack/compartment was shipped with a fan brace, but one without.. to make a long story short, I'm wondering if the rack/compartment would accommodate a 120mm fan without the brace or is that too big? The only one's I've seen are 80mm, 92mm, 120mm.

    so..

    a) will 120mm fit nice and snuggly in there?
    b) is there any size between 92-120mb? i.e 100,110mm ?

    thanks

Typically a bay fan like that will accomodate a 120, you should probably try to find out from the manufacturer though. Or buy form someplace that'll refund you if it doesn't work.

Can only say that a 120mm fan fits under the drive bay in my sons case just right- don't even need to attach it to anything.

id say that if you do it cleanly(if you really care about it) then make what you want fit..

a larger fan will give you the same CFM with less RPM thus creating less noise. the # of blades will also effect the efficiency of the airflow as well..(im sure you know that, but i thought it prudent to say for others) so i certainly try to fit the larger of the 2..

perhaps you could make a bracket(so you wouldnt need to drill holes) thatll mate up to the present mounting footprint.
