    No one has the inside scoop.

    Just be patient, but play some games to hold you over.
    I forgot what quality games are out there, maybe others can fill that in for me.

    Like Terry said, there is no inside scoop. In situations like these, I like to go to several online retailers websites and look at there estimates. Right now the concensus is March '04, which incidently is the same time predicted for Doom 3. Amazon has the reputation of being the most accurate. However, there are some rumours that Valve will make a release the week of Christmas. In my opionion, Valve could definately release a single player only version by then, but I'm sure a tweak of the multiplayer code, because of the leak, would take them a lot longer.

    As for good games to bide your time, this is what I am/will be playing while waiting for HL2.

    NOLF2
    Ghost Recon
    NWN's Hordes of the Underdark
    Tron 2.0
    Deux Ex 2 (maybe)
    Contract J.A.C.K.

    And as soon as they hit the bargin bin, I'll pick up:

    Unreal 2
    SoF2
    Elite Forces 2

    On the GaymQube:

    Viewiful Joe
    MarioCart

    and StarCraft Ghost (although, it will probably be out after HL2)
