Doom 3 giving people heart attacks in real life.

Ive read stories about scary movies giving people heart attacks. But Doom 3 is soo realistic and the sound is simply top notch.

Quite honestly if a 40 yr old+ with a kickass rig and ultra good sound system were playing this game in the dark with da sound pumping, he has a damn good chance at a heart attack.

Ive been scared otta my mind playing Doom 1,2 and I remember when I played Clive Barker's Undying. Man that game can be a bit scary.

I heard System Shock 2 is a scary game , but quite honestly I missed out on the experience. I can't bring myself to play a game like that now considering the graphics *sigh*

Anyway, how many of you guys predict people getting heart attacks from playing Doom 3 ?

I don't think many heart-attacks are going to happen playing Doom III. But then again, that's a complete guess.

I doubt it...I haven't heard of any game giving people heart attacks...

maybe part of id's beta testing team is 40+ year old guys with the best systems and sound setups and if one gets a heart attack...they go back and say...we need to tone this part down a bit

Let me tell you guys something, some games MAY cause physical problem! When I first started gaming, talking about UT2003 baby! , I blacked out awhile later. I had just gotten back from work and was watching TV, next thing I remembered was That I was in the hospital. I was told by my brother that I was conscious most of the time but I was rather incoherent, I was babbling and acting irrationally. Another possible cause for my fainting was the possibility that I had eaten some 'bad' food, while I was overseas, in which a kinda parasite had infected my brain causing a lesion MRI showed a lesion. I was prescribed some meds and stayed 4 'fun-filled' days in hospital. After some times, with meds and rest, the lesion had resolved and I was certified to be in the pink of health. Till this day, I do not know the actual cause of my blackout but, thankfully, I seem to be fine now.

I do know that when the original Doom came out, people complained to id about motion sickness due to the game looking so real. Heart attacks are doubtful unless you drop an 89 year old man clinging to life infront of the screen.

I still get a lil nauseous when I game too much, but I can't keep my hands off my rig - especially gaming! Kinda like stuck between a rock and a hard place. Still, I do manage about 2 full hours gaming everyday and I haven't passed out yet. Hope D3's all that it's made out to be, same goes with HL2, they'll be well-worth fainting for!

Games can give people seizures, but a heartattack is unlikely.

I've read a story where a man died playing an old arcade game a long while back, he probably had it coming though. I think we will start hearing more gaming-related health issue stories (not many more) in the not so distant future. With the modern day technology like realistic graphics, sounds and environments, it might take 3d sickness to a whole new level. Like being in an interactive horror movie.

I think there is more health problems when a person plays a game for days and days without much nurishment and I don`t think age matters at all.

    Probably not a heart attack.

But the person might get an overdose of adrenaline.
And any hormone in great amounts = bad.

    btw, I voted maybe.
You never know, some 70 year fat dude might be playing it while eating KFC.
