Stealth solution for Slot DVD drive?
I have a problem and wanted to ask the masses what possible solutions they know of. I am going to build a new PC, but in an attempt to save cash I'm keeping a number of components from my old system. One of these components is a slot DVD drive. The ones where no tray comes out. Ok, well My dilemma is I want a cool looking case..silver or something, but I don't want to have beige drives showing all the time. I figured stealthing could be done on the burner, but what about the floppy and the slot DVD drive?
ANy reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, pics would help out a lot too.

There is a stealth mod guide for a floppy, but after reading through it, I found it would be a pain to do for something I dont really care about since its black like case. For you either search engine for it, dye it to match, get a case with a door, or reverse it so you insert from inside of case like muisejt. As for slot load DVD, im really not sure. I doubt there is a stealth mod, other than cutting up the bay cover exposing the slot and the button.

Slot loads can be stealthed, sort of.
You have to cover the face of the DVD drive, just like you do when normally stealthing a drive, so you can press the corner and hit the EJECT button. but, you can cut a slot into your bezel face-plate cover to match the slot on the DVD drive. That way you have matching face-plates for your whole case. one just has a slot that you can slip your DVD into. You will have to experiment to see how far the DVD comes out to see if it will clear the bezel face-plate and you can grab it and pull it out.
Make sense?
I hardly ever use my floppy drive, so I will end up reversing it. Just mount it backwards in your case and leave the stock bezel face-plate in place. That should stealth the floppy drive OK. Then, for the very few times I do need the floppy drive, I can just pull the side off the case (which I do fairly frequently, anyway) and insert the floppy disk that way.
Hope that helps.
