What memory should I get?
http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactor...log=381&DEPA=1
I was thinking the PC2700 Kingmax, it's timings are 2 2-4-8.
Edit: The Dell RAM's CL rating is 2.5, should I get another stick the same, or does it not matter?

Well if you run two stick at different timings its just going to go by the slower one.
I'm getting a very similar 8600, just more ram, less with the DVDRW (got one in my Desktop)

How much memory are you getting, and I take it you're getting from Dell?

Get the memory from crucial.
Always good and nearly always cheaper than
getting it from dell.

Just received it from Dell. My mom bought the DVDRW drive so she's making me wait until Christmas til' I open it. I'll only get 3 weeks guarantee.
Ordered on 16th and received on 19th, you could probably get one before Christmas if you ordered now. And to think I was expecting this sometime mid-january.

I'm getting worried about the screen. It's most likely a Hitatchi as Dell aren't shipping the Samsungs til' January. It's supposed to be an ultrasharp with 35ms, 300:1 contrast, but it looks like the Hitatchi is 50ms with 200:1 contrast. It's also heavier than the Samsung.
Please note I haven't yet checked but I'll know by Christmas. This is totally unacceptable if it is. 50ms == 20FPS, and if I notice it it's going the **** back.

Wait... so you got the 8600 but can't use it because it's sitting under the tree?

Crazy ain't it. I'm practically getting a 3 week guarantee.
Edit: Does the 30 day guarantee start from when they ship or when it arrives?

Burn in your laptop when you first use it.
I didn't do it, I don't know what difference it would make.
But on desktops, supposedly it would make your computer more stable.
I believe you use SisSoft Sandra for that.

I tried burning in a little, probably needed to do it more. As I'm gonna send this one back and get a new one, do you know how long I should burn in the new one for? And are you supposed to do it as soon as you turn it on?

I also read you should let it have 3 charge/discharge cycles before using it on battery. Anyone know of this? And should I let it go to 0% when discharging?
