    Quick Question

I jsut bought a Maxtor 120gb sata oem drive. I didn't know that sata drives didn't use the standard molex connectors for power. So am I gonna need a sata-to-ata power converter? I know the drive is oem but is there any chance that it would be included?

Probably not. Did your Motherboard include one?

Don't know yet. I jsut bought a epox8rda3+ from newegg along with the drive. But that's what I was thinking, that the motherboard would include it. But I didn't want to get all my parts and not be able to use them.

Most new mobos that have SATA include SATA cables, but not power adapters.

I hope this is not the case with the 8rda3+ or else I'll have parts to fix my computer but will still have to wait for a stupid adapter to arrive)I ordered it at the last minute).

Tell me about it -- I waited a week to finish a machine a couple months ago just waiting for power adapters.

If you have a Fry's nearby, they might have them in stock.

You should be ok, since the Maxtor drives come with both the old molex connectors and the new sata power connector, (at least mine did) i know Seagate needs an adaptor but Maxtor shouldnt so you can just plug in you standard molex

Was your drive an oem or retail?

number1sixerfan: I just looked at the photo of your drive on newegg.com and can clearly see the molex connector!
    No drive to Frys needed
