DVD drive Buyers Questions
Ok, so I'm thinking of jumping on the DVD bandwagon, but dont know much about DVDs.
Now, I'll have to yank out my existing CDROM and put the DVD drive in it's place. I do a fair bit of audio ripping, so the drive has to be a fairly decent ripper.
Question is what do I look for? Go for name brand stuff? Or go for cheap stuff like Afreey, Delta, etc? These cheap ones sell for about $35-$40 on pricewatch now. Also, what speeds do you recommend? 16X, 12X, 10X? DO cheap drives affect video/audio quality, are they noisy, etc?
TIA

A Fast DVDROM will give you fast CDROM performance as well 16X DVDs mostly support 40X+ CD ROM My 6X heap supports 24X CD. Buy a good DVDROM with good reviews/repute because not ALL DVD ROM players will play all disks easily... Some cheaper DVD players have trouble reading from Recorded CDs... I was thinking of getting the ASUS DVD but after a bit of reading up i have decided on the Pioneer 16X

thanks. I guess I'm gonna wait a month or two and get a good DVD. Just blew my budget on 256MB sticks of RAM from Crucial.
