you were right, i was wrong, what now?

i got my pc4200 RAM today, and while my sandra memory bennchmarks were well over 4000mb/s, the RAM will not even complete a 3dmark run at 240mhz... i find this very frustrating as the pc3000 i used on my 24k run did 244 with ease. so obviously i'm sending the RAM back, but what should i get instead (something that will do 245mhz+ on decent timings) on 2.9v. it seems like newegg is out of all but one variety of bh-5 (mushkin 3200), should i go for that?

Mushkin Level 2 pc3500 is still instock and should get you were you want to be with ease. I have the pc3200 Level 2 and was able to get 460 out of it at about 2.95v maybe even 3 I can't really remember. The 3500 should easily oc to where you want it with only a small voltage bump.

Its still luck of the draw, BH-5 needs voltage to really make it fly. I have the 3500 Lvl II, one stick only did (i say did cause it won't do it on this board, but I haven't tested extensively yet) 240 at 2-2-2 timings, and the other only 230.

2.95? Your board overvolts? Mine undervolts by .05 :| 2.9 is 2.85 for me on this Shuttle :|

i don't like that the 3500 no longer lists the full timings... maybe i'll get the 3200. anyone know if the timings can be relaxed or do you need to use cas2?

I would hurry up and pick up what ever you are going to get cause mushkin's site is saying that the pc3200 and pc3500 level 2 sticks are sold out indefinitely. guess they are all out of bh-5 chips.

They do that because Intel's 875/865 chipset can be picky. Reality is the 3500 is great and will do 2-2-2-5 on an Intel with no problems. Can't seem themn doing worse on a chipset they are rated better on.

The 3500's are great. I've seen people relax some of the timings, but not the CL that I remember.

I know HyperX has used BH-5 on KHX3000, don't know if the "non-A" rule applies to them or not.

I think 1.1 XMS is long gone. KHX3200 is still at Zipzoomfly, but it has gone up $12 a 256MB stick in the last week. BH-5 is going away.
