How do I connect both my reciever and my headphones to my comp?

I have the original audigy and I just recently bought some headphones, but my computer's sound is going out to my reciever. The only place that I have found to work for my headphones is the same output that my reciever is using. So now I have to constantly be unplugging and plugging in stuff whenever I want to alternate between the two. How can I get around this?

You're likely getting a better output from your receiver than your soundcard would give your headphones. If you really want to, go to radioshack and buy a Y adapter for 1/8" plugs and get a 1/8" inline volume control. You'll have to turn the volume down on your headphones manually when you want to change and you'll have to turn your receiver's volume down when you're using your headphones.

I think the plug and unplug system is a lot more efficient and will likely sound better.

Crawling eye, why do you have to be the bearer of bad news.
So its either sacrafice quality for convinience, or get off my butt and switch em.

I would connect to my reciever, but its too far away.

Anyone know of another way? A small hobbit I can hire to switch wires maybe?

I think he's saying that his receiver's far away, so changing between the two requires extra-moving than just turning to his side and pulling the plug out. With this said, I would suggest the 'ol mighty wooden stick of laziness!

Simply use the 'ol mighty stick of laziness to gently 'smack' the headphone cable out of your reciever, being careful not to smack the receiver off the desk or tear out the connector.

Actually the problem is that my reciever is on the other side of the wall behind me, and I would have to have a cord suspended diagonly across the room. That would just be begging for something to get ripped out or something.

So just get an extension. Headphone.com sells good quality extensions. I warn you though, you'll have to pay for quality.
