    Configuring foobar 2k

i decided to try out foobar2k b/c i don't really care about the interface of the other programs anymore. The problem is, i don't know how to configure foobar2k for my setup. I don't know which DSP to enable or like which output to use.

I currently have audigy 2 (w/ cmss turned off) and z-680's. Can someone please tell me which settings would be the best for my setup? Thanks

What version of Foobar do you have? To get the most out of it, I think v0.7.7a is the best to use, and you have to make sure you installed all DSP plugins, or else you'll be missing out

Anyways, here are the settings CrawlingEye and myself use:

    Playback tab
Output data format set to 24bit fixed-point padded to 32bit

    DSP Manager tab
Resampler should be active, volume can be as well
    Activate crossfeed while using headphones
Resampler should be set at 192000 (manually enter it), since you have the A2.

    Output tab
Output Method should be Kernel Streaming
Make sure the devices are set to your A2
Buffer length can be set at 4000ms

Those are the settings that are permanent with my Foobar, but I've messed around with others. Feel free to experiment yourself

I haven't been able to find a screenshot of Foobar, not even on their homepage....

I'm curious as to what the interface looks like..

XP, what version is your Foobar? I'm using 0.7.2 and there's no Kernel Streaming option under Output.

*yes I know I was a little slow*
My only disappointment is I can't seem to use the play and stop buttons on my multimedia keyboard without the window being focused..

    Ah ha...I missed that.

EDIT: I just got 0.7.7b and A2 is selected under Waveout & Directsound, yet there's no Kernel Streaming option in Output.

Thanks, for the screenshot XP. It seems that 0.7.7a has a lot more DSP's than 0.7.7b.

EDIT: I think it didn't install all the proper outputs. I installed it again and Kernel streaming is there now. Gonna go experiment. Thanks again!

While Kernel Streaming's great, I think the best improvement is the Resampler.

I warn though, with my rig, it puts me at about 50% CPU usage.
I've since changed my resampler to 176400 to save some CPU usage.
The difference in quality is slight from 176400 to 192000, but noticable.

    Good luck, guys.

Heh I was just gonna mention that. With my resampler set at 192000 my CPU usage hovers around 30%. Temps also go up 2C

Can you use Kernel streaming AND resampler?
Do you use dither? (I have my output at 24bits)

EDIT: I'm experimenting with the resampler at 192000 and the transients/highs seem more crisp and defined. The midrange seems to be slightly fuller too. Scrolling in IE is alot choppier though.

You also have a slower rig than the rest of us, no offense
