    what to get next?

    well i have a shopping list and i cant decide what to get in what order

    heres whats on my list.

    project 1: 250gb raid 1 array. using 2 wd 250gb sata drives. and a promise fastrack s150 tx2 plus (is this good?)

    project 2: second nec fe1250+bk monitor.

    project 3: change case to lian-li pc-76

    I would do either 1 or 2. Not a good time to buy an expensive case with btx coming.

    That's a really good point. I would go 1, 2 and then 3 in that order.

    well do you think that they will release this case in btx then?

    whens the expected "release" of that form factor?

    I'm not sure. It might come out the same time PCI Express starts showing up.

    And since that's been allegedly coming since summer of 2 years ago, I wouldn't really worry too much about it.

    SATA drives certainly haven't changed things much, and they were out a long time ago.

    What do you do that you would invest the money in a 250gb RAID 1 setup?

    MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2.3Ghz i5, 8GB RAM, 640GB HD

    I think option 1 is a very bad choice. Why? The ~$150 you will be spending on that raid card is money wasted. Any future motherboard upgrade will almost certainly have onboard sata raid (if not sata2 on it) onboard. The price of that raid card alone is what a high end motherboard will cost you now.

    If you took the money for the raid card and bought a motherboard instead, you'd probably be better off. Then, if you added 'just a bit more', you could get an A64 and have an even more rocking pc!

    true. Also, Raid over pci is stupid because pci can't keep up with raid's speed.

    I am using the asus a7n8x for my mobo currently. i am using that onboard controller for my raid 0 sata raptor drives.

    thats why i need the addtional controller.
