Where can i get a decent 17" monitor for less than $150 dollars? I saw a KDS and CTX at mwave.com for around $135 each. I am looking for one with good dot pitch < .27. any help would be appreciated, thanks

Just from my experience, it's cheapest to get monitors from computer shows. I paid $139 for my current ViewSonic, which I thought was a great deal. Although it's not a flat screen, the clarity is great. Also, by not buying it online, I didn't have to pay any shipping fee which can get pretty expensive for a monitor.

If your looking for a good monitor, get one that can reach at least 1280x1024 at 75 Hz refresh rate...but I'd say that 1600x1200 at 80 Hz should be your minimum requirement.

Also, you mentitioned <.27 dot pitch. You should know that different types of monitors use different methods of displaying pixels and masking the display. This means that it is possible that a monitor with a .30 dot pitch would be better than a different type of monitor with a .25 dot pitch since they use different methods to display pixels. If you want to know more, do some research on dot pitch and you should find some FAQs describing what they are and their pros/cons.

BTW, redwing is right...those shipping costs will definitely put you beyond 150 no matter where you buy. As a result, you could try buying from a company that doesn't charge shipping but then that cost is usually hidden in the item's price. I'd say 150 is an unrealistically low total price for a good (or even bad) 17" monitor unless you decided to buy locally & pick up the monitor yourself.

I'd agree with racer. You arent going to get any good of a monitor, IMO, for $150 dollars. I'd say the minimum for a decent one would be about $200. Watch the ads that come in the sunday paper for rebate offers and local computer stores and such.

yeah $150 is a bit low for a 17" monitor. Save some cash then check out OptiQuest (I believe that's the name), they're ViewSonic's value line of monitors. I feel lucky, my work is selling some of it's extra stuff including some nice Dell 19" flat screen monitors for $140. Only catch is there aren't that many, 8 19" monitors, and 32 nice 17" monitors ($95), so I'm hope that most people here don't feel the need for a monitor so I can pick up a couple
