Kernal streaming takes the sound from foobar and sends it straight to your sound card, instead of to windows' crappy sound handeling crap like is normally done. this way, your sound card sees bit-perfect data.

Anyways, here are the settings CrawlingEye and myself use:
Playback tab
Output data format set to 24bit fixed-point padded to 32bit
DSP Manager tab
Resampler should be active, volume can be as well
Activate crossfeed while using headphones
Resampler should be set at 192000 (manually enter it), since you have the A2.
Output tab
Output Method should be Kernel Streaming
Make sure the devices are set to your A2
Buffer length can be set at 4000ms
Those are the settings that are permanent with my Foobar, but I've messed around with others. Feel free to experiment yourself
I can't find kernal streaming on the output tab "Direct output" "Wav. . ." etc, but no kernal streaming, I didn't read the entire thread. . .perhaps I'm missing something?

When you install foobar, make sure you install EVERYTHING.
I made that mistake.
Be sure to check every box is ticked.

Make sure you install foobar from the special installer (link in my guide). And just read everything and tick all the little boxes.
What's the advantage of the "Special Version?"

Apparently it's worth it to get the special version from what I hear. My roommate swears by it now...

special = slightly larger size, but tons more file format support.
and tweaks.
Why don't they just don't release the non-special one?

If you're going to use foobar, you obviously care about sound. What's the next step in making your setup sound better? Ditch those bloated, bug ridden, and dorky creative supplied drivers or stock drivers!!! There is a 3rd party set of drivers for all 10k2 based cards (a list of supported cards is at http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/faq.php?language=en#Q15)
The Kx drivers will make your sound clearer, more punchy, tighter bass, etc...plus they'll give you a LOT more control over your sound. The one drawback I can see is that they don't currently (as far as I know) have EAX support...so for you people who live for the sound of guitars played underwater, I'm sorry. Also, they are a little tricky to learn at first....
You can get 'em here: http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?language=en
I can't really help you any further than that with Kx drivers, as I don't use them myself (my soundcard is beyond needing them).
This guide is in it’s very initial, very rough, very draft stage. If you spot an error, or run into a problem, feel free to PM, AIM, or email me!
Um... Zemo, don't yell at me... but if I don't use Foobar, can I still expect better sound quality from the KX drivers??

Absolutely! Kx Drivers give you better sound regardless of what player you're using....and you should be using foobar...
