    Post Yet another upgrade question...

    Hi all,

Its that time again when I sink some hard earned money into that never ending source of joy that is known as my computer.

    Here is the question:

I have a 900 Mhz T-Bird Athlon with a Hercules Geforce II MX.

If I can only upgrade one thing, which one is the better deal:

Upgrade to 1.3 Ghz Athlon for about $150,-
    or
Upgrade to Visiontek Geforce3 for about $340,-

    Thanks for any input!

Just a suggestion: You could get the new cpu
    and a Geforce2 Pro for only $300. That's less than the GF3.

Anyway, If I was choosing between the GF3 and the CPU, then I would choose the CPU.

All else aside, you will notice much more of an improvement in games upgrading your video card than your CPU. Right now there aren't many games that will stretch a 900 Mhz T-Bird coupled with a GeForce 3 (well, not unless you insist on playing in 1600x1200 or use FSAA). However, even with a 1.4 gig Athlon you will be handicapped if you use it with an MX.

If you are on a budget I would recommend keeping the CPU and purchasing a GeForce 2 GTS or comparable card. I just think the prices on the GeForce 3 are nuts.
