Laptop
Morning!
About two years ago I built my own PC - mainly for the use of playing games. Its a fairly good machine (at the time) - but I'm moving house now and leaving the PC with the person that will be staying in the house.
So - I need a new PC to go in my new pad. But I don't want a numb heavy machine that takes up loads of space and needs desk space etc etc like my old desktop did. I want a laptop. But I'm not very clued up on how much laptops cost and what they can achieve. I really only want the laptop to be able to surf the web (broadband and dial up), send emails, and now and again play some games (CM4, FM05 and some FPS type games), and some networking, probably wireless. Although - having said that - who knows what I'll want in the future...
I have a budget though - I'll struggle to make £1000 ($1800) - in fact thats a bit higher than I want to go. So the question is - what sorta laptop would I be able to get for my money, who are the good laptop makes (price/power) and would I be getting a fairly good machine for the money.
Anyone with any help/ideas - that would be cool
Thanks

If you're on a budget like that, the best place to start would have to be Dell. There are some nice gaming laptops and Sony's are kickass, but anything in those realms aren't going to be touched under $2000 US. Start poking around Dell's site and see what you can come up with inside your limit (and then we'll be happy to review it ).
