    personal Doom 3 benchmarks

was bored today and didnt feel like playing Doom 3 during the day so here's a few tests that I did out of boredom:

No AA in any of these tests

    P4 [email protected] high settings 1024x 4.7 catalyst = 31.7FPS
    p4 [email protected] high settings 1024x 4.9 catalyst = 32.8fps
    p4 [email protected] high settings 1024x 4.9 catalyst = 34.2fps
    p4 [email protected] ultra high settings 1024x 4.9 catalyst = 28.9fps
    p4 [email protected] ultra high settings 1024x 4.9 catalyst w/rage3d tweak utility = 29fps

Not exactly the highest of scores as you can see, but actual gameplay runs better as the timedemo is made to stress your video/cpu performance.

As you can see, CPU difference of 400 mhz only makes a difference of barely 2 FPS...so its not the bottleneck, neither is the memory...and you really can only overclock your video card so much with this game.
Surprisingly, ultra settings dont bog down my system as much as I thought they would.
I definitely recommend getting the BETA 4.9 drivers as it gave me a free FPS and got rid of a few visual artifacts it seems.

Enjoy, maybe these will help someone base their scores off of.

In your last test I see you included the rage tweak utility... did you overclock your 9800 or something?

No I just clicked those enable SSE and SSE 2 boxes and a few others...virtually no effect as you can see

    Cool

Here's a couple of benchmarks I did, my specs are:

    Pentium 4 3.5GHz NW
    1GB DDR 400
    Geforce 6800GT o/c to Ultra

    Timedemo demo1 - V-Sync off:

    Ultra High - 1280x1024 2xAA + 8xAF - 62.6 fps
    Ultra High - 1280x1024 4xAA + 8xAF - 49.9 fps

IMO the jump from 2xAA to 4xAA has a noticable impact on the fps (although still playable), so I'm currently using Ultra High - 1280x1024 2xAA + 8xAF.

Eh, I thought I'd posted my benchmark......must have been another thread. I made two runs at same res as I've noticed quite a diff between the two. Here's mine at :
    1024x768 wif 4xAA ingame/8xAF in nV control panel -
    2148frames/37.4secs=57.5fps
    2148frame/27.9secs=76.9fps

    1024x768 w/o AA/AF -
    2148frames/29.9secs=71.8fps
    2148frames/22.9secs=94.9fps

How does it play at 800x600?

Oh, I've just heard that you should run the benchmark a few times and discard the first run. (it's caching textures, so it will be lower)

Gotta re-benchmark mine. I'll try 800x600, after breakfast.

Yep, just run it twice, one after the other, you'll see that the 2nd run scores better....I think the 2nd run is more representative of how a card performs in game.....I hope.

Here we go! Low detail, no shadows, specular on, high quality effects on, imagecache = 256, no AA&AF, stereo sound

    Code:
    1024x768
    1st 135.2secs 15.9FPS
    2nd 121.1 17.7
    3rd 120.9 17.8
    4th 120.7 17.8

    800x600
    1st 132.4secs 16.2FPS
    2nd 118.5 18.1
    3rd 118.6 18.1
    4th 118.8 18.1
As you can see, the 1st run should be discarded and my CPU is the bottleneck. (not much difference between 1024 and 800)

Only if you like a slideshow.

I turned on shadows @1024x768, ran the test twice, and got 12.9FPS.
